Speak the Word. Write the Word. Live the Word.

There are many ways to share the gospel.

Some stand behind a pulpit and preach. Some sit quietly at a desk and write. Others may leave behind few written words, yet their lives become a testimony to what they believe.

Over the years, I have come to see something more and more clearly: preaching, writing, and walking alongside others are not three separate ministries. They are different expressions of the same calling—to make Christ known and to allow His truth to enter real human lives.

If I were to summarize that calling in three simple phrases, I would say:

Speak the Word. Write the Word. Live the Word.

The Word is the same. The means are different.

Together, these three practices have come to shape much of my ministry, my writing, and the purpose behind this website.

1. Speak the Word — So Truth Can Be Heard

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17, KJV

This is perhaps the most direct form of sharing the gospel: using our own voices to proclaim the Word of God.

For a pastor, preaching is never simply a matter of standing before a congregation and delivering a speech.

Before the Word is preached through us, we must first stand beneath it ourselves. Scripture must speak to us, search us, correct us, and shape us before we can faithfully speak it to others.

That is why I hope to continue gathering and preserving my sermons on this website. They are more than an archive of messages. Together, they tell the story of a pastor learning to read Scripture carefully, wrestle with the realities of life, and build a bridge between biblical truth and the world in which people actually live.

From this website, you can also find your way to my YouTube channel, where I share Sunday sermons and other biblical messages.

Words can be read. Voices can be heard. Through video, even people separated by great distances can gather around the same message.

This is the first path:

Speak the Word, so truth can be heard.

2. Write the Word — So Truth Can Travel Farther

But the human voice has limits.

A sermon is preached, and the moment passes. A person speaks in one place, and only those within hearing distance can listen.

Writing is different.

Once words are written down, they can cross a city, cross an ocean, and sometimes even cross generations. They can reach someone the writer has never met and may never meet.

That is one reason I have come to value writing so deeply.

I write about faith, but I also write about life. I write about the church and the world around us. I write about marriage and family, money and work, suffering and loss, growth and difficult choices.

Because I have become increasingly convinced that truth does not belong only inside a sanctuary. It belongs at the kitchen table, in the workplace, within our marriages and families, and in the quiet places where we wrestle with the decisions that shape our lives.

I do not write simply to produce more articles.

I write because some things are worth remembering. Some truths are worth preserving. Some lessons are worth passing on.

An article may not change someone's life the day it is published. But perhaps one sentence stays with them. Perhaps one story walks beside them through a difficult season. Perhaps a truth planted today lies quietly beneath the surface and begins to grow years later.

This is the second path:

Write the Word, so truth can travel farther.

3. Live the Word — So Our Lives Become the Testimony

And yet preaching and writing are still not enough.

Everything we proclaim eventually faces a very personal test:

Does the life we live bear witness to the truth we proclaim?

A person can preach many sermons and write many articles. But over the course of a lifetime, what often influences others most deeply is not simply what we have said.

It is what they have seen in us.

That is why I have come to treasure this third path:

Live the Word.

By “life,” I mean the whole of it.

How we respond to success and how we endure failure. How we receive what is given to us and how we walk through seasons of loss. How we treat our families, our friends, and even those who have wounded us. How we give thanks when life is good—and how we continue learning to trust God when it is not.

The gospel must not only be proclaimed.

It must become visible in a life.

A true witness is not merely telling another person, “This is how you should live.”

It is allowing them to see, through an imperfect but faithful life, that this way can actually be walked.

This is why I believe so deeply that:

Life touches life. Life shapes life. And one life, surrendered to Christ, can help bring life to another.

4. Why This Website Exists

And that brings me to the reason this website exists.

It is not simply a personal website about Paul. Nor is it merely a place to collect my sermons, articles, and experiences in one convenient location.

My deeper hope is that, over time, it can become a place where people are accompanied as they grow.

Here, you can read.

You can listen to sermons.

You can follow links to YouTube and watch Sunday messages.

But as this website continues to grow, I hope it becomes more than a place where people come to consume content.

I hope you can find resources here that help you read Scripture, think more deeply about life, build faithful habits, walk through difficult seasons, and discover that you do not have to make the journey alone.

Because discipleship is never completed by listening to one sermon.

It is not completed by reading one article.

Discipleship is a journey.

And journeys are different when someone walks beside us.

5. Preaching, Writing, and Walking Together

So when I call this part of the website “Writing & Preaching,” I actually have something larger in mind.

It is about:

Speaking the Word — so truth can be heard. Writing the Word — so truth can travel. Living the Word — so truth can be seen.

Preaching gives truth a voice.

Writing gives truth a longer life.

Walking alongside others allows truth to take root in the realities of everyday life.

These are not competing ministries. They are not three unrelated projects.

They belong together.

What we preach should shape what we write. What we write should become what we live. And what we live should become a testimony that another generation can see.

That is the direction I hope this website will continue to take.

My deepest hope is not simply that more people will know what I have written or hear what I have preached.

My hope is that through these words, these messages, and the simple act of walking together, we might know Christ more deeply and grow, little by little, into the people He is calling us to become.

And if one day we look back and discover that an article, a sermon, a conversation, or a season of companionship helped one person draw closer to God, grow in faith, and then begin to pour life into someone else—

then this website will have served its purpose.

Speak the Word. Write the Word. Live the Word.

Life touching life. Life shaping life. Life giving rise to life.

This is more than how I understand writing and preaching.

It is the road I hope to keep walking.
