Personal Profile

I’m Paul Zhang (Chongzhu Zhang), a pastor, theological student, and writer originally from Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China, now living and serving in the United States.

My journey into ministry began in 1996, when I started to take seriously God’s call on my life. The following year, I entered East China Theological Seminary in Shanghai. After graduating in 2001, I returned to Wenzhou and began serving local churches. Over the years, my ministry has included pastoral leadership, preaching, children’s ministry, discipleship, youth ministry, sacred music, theological education, evangelism, and leadership development.

The road has not always been easy.

I have witnessed seasons of church growth and seasons of conflict. I have helped build churches and watched crosses torn down. I have stood freely behind a pulpit, and I have also spent more than eight months in detention, deprived of my freedom because of events surrounding the church in China.

Later, I came to the United States and began again—studying, serving, and learning how to shepherd Chinese immigrant families in a very different world.

Through it all, I have come to believe that the deepest value of a life is not measured simply by what we accomplish or possess, but by who we are becoming in the hands of God—and by whether our lives become a blessing to others.

Today, I continue to pastor, study theology, preach, write, and reflect on more than three decades of faith and ministry.

This website is not meant to be a showcase of accomplishments.

I hope it will become a place where life and faith meet—a place for biblical truth, sermons, stories, reflections, and honest conversations about marriage, family, work, money, suffering, calling, and spiritual growth.

If something I have lived through can help another person find direction, walk through suffering with greater hope, avoid a few unnecessary detours, or know Christ more deeply, then that part of my journey was not lived in vain.
